1) The author talks about a video art hierarchy establishing television as too commercial a medium to be a consistent art form, does this hierarchy hold true today? How blurred are the lines of art and commercialism and what, if anything, would be considered art that is on television?


2) Why did video artists in the 80s and 90s switch from the more abstract content of the formative years of the medium to seemingly more personal narratives?
